After you have made your decision on which Texas electricity company you want and clicked "Submit," your request will be sent to that company, and they will process your order within one to three business days. You will also be shown the order status, the date and time of your order and the Web site address that you can login to in order to track your orders.

You can always visit the "My Orders" section of your account to check the status of your order and view the Terms of Service.

If you switched providers, the actual switch of providers will occur within seven business days. Your old provider will continue to send you a bill until the service switch has been completed. You will also receive a confirmation notice from ERCOT regarding your switch.

Another important thing to remember about ordering, switching or transferring your electricity service in Texas is that you shouldn't submit multiple orders to different providers or even the same provider, as this holds up the request process. The last provider to submit a request to ERCOT is the provider that your electricity service will go to. So if there's a provider you really want, submit to them and wait for approval before submitting a separate request somewhere else.
